Considering the price all of the laptops profiled here are an excellent buy but my top picks would be the Toshiba Satellite L645D and the HP laptop. My reasons for picking them is the fact that they are both made for multimedia and can handle a lot more tasks, plus I like having a machine with just a little more power.

Otherwise if you're not into gaming this aspect wouldn't be all that important and any of the other lower priced laptops will work just as well for your needs.

When choosing a laptop for under 500.00 you will find your options to be a little limited, but I was surprised by what you can actually buy for that price.

The Toshiba Satellite L64 14 inch laptop is just slightly over the $500.00 mark but for options like this you really can't afford to overlook it. This powerful little laptop is capable of filling all your computer needs making it an excellent choice for a student or occasional gamer.

At just over 400.00 the Compaq Presario CG is an excellent choice in laptop computers. It doesn't have a webcam but otherwise makes a good choice for anyone needing a low cost computer. With an intel celeron processor 900: 2 GB DDR2 system memory and windows 7.
