Decorating Your Yard For Halloween

The month of September usually passes by fairly quickly and once October is here you can then start on your Halloween decorating.

Before starting the first thing that you might want to do is decide on what look you are going for this year.I always wanted to go for the more cute aspect of Halloween, but since my kids are into the more scary aspect that is usually what we ended up going with.

But no matter what theme you choose the pumpkins and Jack-O-Lanterns are always a good place to start with your fall decorating. A lot of people like to start off with just pumpkins and then add the Jack-O-Lanterns as the month goes by. After all you wouldn't want your masterpiece to start decomposing too soon, unless of course that's the look you're going for.

And if you can't stand to see your masterpiece destroyed you might want to check into purchasing a funkin. Funkins are carvable artificial pumpkins that can be carved into the design off your choice. I have several different funkins in various different designs and although they can be a little expensive their durability helps to make up for the cost.

Scary Yard Decor

Once you've decided on the overall theme of your Halloween decor it will be a lot easier to pick out the rest of your decorations.

One of the most popular yard themes is of course the graveyard, which is also one of the easiest themes to create. All you you need to create an awesome graveyard theme is some tombstones, these can be homemade by you or purchased. Either will work, I ended up purchasing mine because of a lack of time.

Next you will want to add some scary decorations like skeleton and or a fake skull or two scattered around for effect.

Then you might want to think about adding a few more special touches like a rat or two amongst the tombstones this along with some scary music or Halloween sounds should top off your graveyard theme for this year.

Another popular and easy to do theme, is the witch theme. For this theme you will need a witch or two along with a cauldron and a black cat. Some spiderwebs along with a large scary spider will also help add to the overall ambiance. For this look you may also want to pick up a fog machine to help create a more eerie look.

I planted lots of pumpkins this year. If the deer don't get them we'll have a good batch. Love your hub really like the skeleton. We won't decorate much we don't get trick or treaters and the grandkids don't come.
