What Causes Puffy Eyes

Most of us at one time or another has had to deal with dark puffy eyes. This is because like it or not ,your eyes tend to be quite sensitive.

This means that most everything that you do such as over-indulging in alcohol, or don't do such as not getting enough sleep tends to eventually show up as under eye puffiness.

Dark puffy eyes can also be caused by illness, allergies or even heredity. Unfortunately these things are not quite as easy to control but there are still things that you can do to reduce your puffy eye circles.

4 Home Remedies For Puffy Eyes

Depending on the cause of your puffy eyes there are several different home treatments that you can try. All of which are very successful at treating puffy eyes.

1. Lay down for fifteen minutes with a couple of cooled tea bags over your eyes. The tannin in the tea helps to quickly reduce puffy eyes.

2. Relax with a cool cucumber slice over each eye. Cucumbers work wonders on puffy eyes.

3. Press a couple of cooled tea spoons over your eyes for a few minutes to reduce puffiness.

4. Use an eye cream containing caffeine, which works wonders on dark puffy eyes. It also helps to keep your eye cream in the refrigerator. This is the brand that I use and I can honestly say that it works really well.  It does tend to wear off in a few hours though, at which time you can simply reapply the cream.

Puffy Eyes Treatment

There are a couple of puffy eyes treatments that work for dark puffy eyes caused by heredity. One of which is laser surgery and other is using injectable fillers such as Restylane and Juvederm. Of the two options the injectable fillers is probably the safest choice with the least amount of recovery time, but any type of surgery is not without its risks. And we've all seen the pictures of the stars like Priscilla Presley, for instance who ended up marred for life from a botched plastic surgery.

The tea bags work great but I really like the eye pads. They are so handy and since I have puffy eyes a lot from my allergies, they get a lot of use.
